Are You Giving Away Your Power

Fear is an incredibly debilitating state of mind. Yes that is a pretty bold statement yet there is pretty simple scientific evidence of what happens in the mind when you feel fear.

Fear can be a very healthy and protective innate response to keep you safe. The fight or flight mechanisms are deeply built into your psyche. The problem is the unconscious mind doesn’t really differentiate running from a tiger and listening to what sounds very frightening.

The fear response which is so automatic activates anxious feelings and the more you activate these inner automatic responses the more ingrained (habitual) the response.

Recognizing some of what happens to the brain and body in such a response is helpful.

Your brainwaves speed up going faster and a simple comparison can be made of watching a movie go to fast forward. The more the anxious feeling increases the faster the movie forwards.

In a state of mindfulness, which is a powerful state of conscious awareness, the brain can actually slow down and it is as if it watches the movie in slow motion.

If you compare what you can see and make sense of either watching a movie on fast forward or in slow motion it’s pretty clear that the mind will register more usable data from the slow motion experience.

The most critical piece of information to al understand is that when your brain slows down you theoretically have access to both the left and right hemispheres of the brain. The right side of the brain is the parasympathetic nervous system, the rest and relax. Why is this important? Because in this state you have more access to your innate and creative power. Basically your have more inner resources to strategically process your world.

Anxious feelings are already a habit in this fast moving, over stimulating world. The measure most useful min creating your calm is to build in processes that support learning and experiencing the calm. It’s like going to the gym for your mind. It’s another muscle and it will respond however you train it.

Mindfulness is a daily conscious practice. The more consciously aware of what your inner mind (feelings and thoughts) are doing, the more you can direct that process consciously.

This hypnotic meditation is intentionally designed to help you have the choice to how you direct your mind into your secret superhero power of inner calm.
